| What is a "deductible"? Why do insurance policies have deductible requirements? Can we choose different deductible amounts?

A "deductible" is the amount the insured must pay for each accident before insurance coverage begins. For example, with Type A or B physical damage insurance using deductible plan 357, the insured pays NT$3,000 for the first claim, NT$5,000 for the second, and NT$7,000 for the third and subsequent claims.
The purpose of deductibles is to reduce small claims processing costs, lower premium burdens, and encourage careful driving since drivers share accident costs.
Policyholders can choose higher deductibles for lower premiums.
